Meet Sarah, your Wonder Skin Therapist.

Wonder Skincare is more than just an online skincare retailer, we’re Canada’s first virtual skincare clinic. That means in addition to scientifically-backed products shipped to your doorstep, we offer expert advice from the comfort and safety of home… for free. When you schedule your first one-on-one consultation, you’ll meet Sarah: Wonder Skin Therapist, certified Medical Aesthetician, and all-round wonder(ful) human.

You’ll come to know Sarah as your go-to skin guru soon enough, but if you’re looking to learn a bit more about her before your first appointment, we asked her some questions about work, life, skincare, and everything in between.

Why did you decide to become a Medical Aesthetician?

I struggled with acne prone skin through my teens and early 20s, which inspired me to learn about skin physiology, skin conditions and skincare ingredients. I became so passionate about these topics that a career in the aesthetic field was an obvious choice, and since 2003, I’ve been working alongside physicians, nurses and aesthetic practitioners, feeding my curiosity and passion for the world of aesthetic skincare.

What excites you most about working at Wonder Skincare?

I’m looking forward to reaching so many unique skincare enthusiasts across this beautiful country, and showing them how wonderful - and helpful - skincare can be… all from the convenience and safety of their homes!

What is your skin philosophy?

Your skin is your body’s largest organ and it needs to be handled with care.

What’s the biggest mistake you see people making with their skincare?

I would say buying fad products and at-home treatments without carefully considering their individual skin physiology, and how the ingredients will interact with their skin. Not all skincare is created equal, and education is key!

Another mistake I see often is expecting instant results. Great skin can be achieved with the proper routine, but these things take time! If you’re struggling with a frustrating skin condition, I can definitely relate and empathize, but I think it’s important to set realistic expectations and timelines.

What does your skincare routine look like right now?

Every morning I cleanse and tone my skin. Then, I apply (in this order) serum, eye cream, moisturizer, and finally, sunscreen. Once or twice per week I use a physical exfoliant, which I incorporate after cleansing, but before toning.

In the evening, I cleanse and tone my skin, then I apply (in this order) serum, eye cream, retinol, moisturizer. Once or twice per week I use a treatment mask or peel.

What do you like to do in your free time?

In my free time you can usually find me walking or hiking with my dog Stella, a Boxer/American Bulldog mix. I spend as much time in nature as I can (with sunscreen on, of course), and I love to cook and do DIY projects like refinishing/repurposing furniture (always with music playing in the background). My most recent project was converting my guest bedroom into a zen plant space where I now spend time reading and meditating.

Lastly (and perhaps most importantly), what’s your current Netflix addiction?

Oh, I have a few! I love Jack Whitehall: Travels With My Father, Nurse Ratched, and The Biggest Little Farm.

Whether you’re adopting good habits early for prevention, looking to get a little bit more out of your skincare routine, or hoping to turn back the clocks to healthier, more youthful skin, you can reach Sarah via private email, phone, or virtual consultation to receive one-on-one expert guidance on personalized routines. This is the start of a wonder(ful) friendship.
